The following regional and national organizations can help you access services and/or important mental health information. These resources include information about depression, anxiety, mood disorders, suicide prevention, hospital and clinic services where professionals provide evaluation and treatment, support groups and hotlines.

Regional Resources for Spokane & Washington State

 

Inland Northwest Behavioral Health, serving greater Spokane and the Inland Northwest, provides treatment to individuals struggling with emotional or behavioral health issues through individual, group and recreational therapies. A Mindful State is a unique collaboration between the Washington State Department of Health, civic leaders, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, leading experts in mental health and a growing number of incredible people who are willing to share their lived experience. This unusual collection of talent and wisdom has come together to combine expert advice with the voices of real people who are living and working through the mental and emotional health consequences of the global pandemic. 

 

WA Warm Line is a peer support help line through Crisis Connections for people living with emotional and mental health challenges. Calls are answered by specially-trained volunteers who have lived experience with mental health challenges. They have a deep understanding of what you are going through and are here to provide emotional support, comfort, and information. All calls are confidential. 

 

National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. Since its inception in 1979, NAMI has become “The Nation’s Voice on Mental Illness” with offices in every state and local affiliates in more than 1100 communities across the country.

FailSafe for Life knows that strength not only lies in our words, but in our actions as well. We have set out on a mission to end suicide in Spokane and will not quit until our job is complete. Founded in 2016, FailSafe for Life inspires action through education, instilling hope, and connecting communities. We’re driven by a firm belief in the power of understanding, and the knowledge that the pain that surrounds suicide can be treated.

National Resources

NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.

 

ParentGuidance.org provides education and therapeutic support to empower and give you hope as you support your child’s mental health. They have a library of courses, developed by leading mental health experts, to offer hope, answers, and compassionate help. Additionally, therapists answer the difficult questions you may have about your child.

 

The Gurian Institute provides brain-based, research-driven, strategies-focused professional development on how boys and girls learn and grow differently. The Gurian Institute helps schools and local communities create boy and girl friendly environments, giving every child a chance to succeed to the fullest of his or her individual potential.

 

Mental Health America (MHA)'s work is driven by its commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need them; with recovery as the goal.

 

The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) is the lead federal agency for research on mental disorders. NIMH is one of the 27 Institutes and Centers that make up the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the nation’s medical research agency. NIH is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

 

AIM is finding and funding promising youth mental health research that can identify solutions to make a difference in young people’s lives today, while building a movement devoted to the mental health of children, teens, and young adults.

 

Saving Teens is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting troubled teens and their families struggling with mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, addictions and other risky behaviors.

 

The Jed Foundation is a nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive today…and tomorrow.

 

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.

 

Grant Halliburton Foundation works to strengthen the network of mental health resources for children, teens, and young adults; promote better mental health; and prevent suicide. 

 

Hilinski’s Hope Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to promote awareness and education of mental health and wellness for student athletes. The foundation’s mission is to educate, advocate, and eliminate the stigma associated with mental illness, while funding programs that provide student athletes with the tools and resources that support their mental health and wellness. 

 

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a voluntary health organization that gives those affected by suicide a nationwide community empowered by research, education and advocacy to take action against this leading cause of death.

 

Suicide Awareness Voices of Education (SAVE) is based on the foundation and belief that suicide is preventable and everyone has a role to play in preventing suicide. Through raising public awareness, educating communities, and equipping every person with the right tools, we know we can SAVE lives.
